Vardana Simonyan
Vardana (Dana) Simonyan is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer, born in Ashdod and currently living and working in Tel Aviv. She graduated with honors from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in Israel and internationally, and she has received academic awards for excellence.
Simonyan works across analog photography, video, and artificial intelligence. Her practice explores her identity as an Israeli woman, engaging with memory and transitional spaces, and observing reality with sustained and genuine curiosity.
Her work is grounded in an open, direct dialogue and does not seek to impose a single conclusion. Instead, it creates a space in which the image holds complexity and remains open to interpretation. She returns repeatedly to the same places and figures, weaving together everyday observation with an almost dreamlike sensibility, and seeks to represent a form of beauty that is not idealized, but worthy of dignity- a beauty that emerges through encounter, through a delicate balance between the harshness of the world and a conscious, meaningful presence within it.
