David Hockney. A Chronology. 40th Ed.
A journey year by year, page by page, through the life and work of David Hockney. From Californian swimming pools to the landscapes of his homeland—artworks and biographical text together allow participation in Hockney's artistic exploration, inspiration, and creation.
The book offers new perspectives and reveals how Hockney conducts his artistic research, how his painting evolves, and where he finds inspiration for his diverse works.
David Hockney (born July 9, 1937) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. He first emerged in the early 1960s during the height of British pop, later moving to Los Angeles in 1964, where he famously painted a series of swimming pool pictures. Alongside the classic genres of portrait and landscape, he has continually evolved his art, using technologies such as Polaroids, photocopy machines, fax machines, digital video, and iPhones and iPads as tools for his painting.
